“EUROPEAN LESSON” @ AGENSKALNA STATE GYMNASIUM – RIGA, LATVIA
For the FIRST TIME on March 29, 2011 in Latvia the “European lesson” in frames of Social Erasmus project was held.
The first “European lesson” took place at Agenskalna State Gymnasium. Agenskalna State Gymnasium is located in Riga and is one of the oldest schools in Latvia. In frames of Social Erasmus project nine Erasmus students from Hungary, Germany, Poland, South Korea and Venezuela were holding the “European lesson” on their chosen topic. The main topics what Erasmus students choose for their ‘’European lesson” were volunteering experience, the reasons why they are in Latvia, their studies in Riga and stories about their homeland. Moreover, Erasmus students from South Korea and Germany even prepare their traditional food so kids at school could taste it!
The Student Union of Agenskalna State Gymnasium was very well prepared for the “European lesson” too. They gave a tour around the school and introduce Erasmus students with a history of the school. It was a great opportunity for Erasmus students to interact with a local community, to know educational system as well as Latvian culture!
The “European lesson” was very successful! The Erasmus students enjoyed it very much and were overwhelmed with a positive emotions and a kids in Agenskalna State Gymnasium are looking forward for new Erasmus volunteers to came and held a “European lesson”!
Social Erasmus RIGA is proud of Erasmus students in Riga – they are brave, open minded and they do care about the local community!
