The International Erasmus Games were definitely the biggest event ESN Latvia took part in this month. 18 different countries from Europe participated with more than 300 people from 40 countries of origin.

Four days of Italy’s sun and gelato, two of them spent playing sports with probably the most international teams one could ever see. And do not forget the couple of days days that it took us to to go to Milan, as we were for sure the heroes of travelling, going all the way to Italy by bus. A road to never forget, full with unexpected delays and some other troubles. Even with all that, the days spent in Milan were worth it. Sports brings people together like nothing else, well, maybe except the music and food. Everyone was truly fighting for their country, especially when playing against ther country of origin. So the most awkward question to ask was where are you from? If it doesn’t create any trouble normally, this time it was different. We are proud to say that ESN Latvia team’s answer was...

Latvia. Well, and I’m actually from…

That’s the spirit!

How did we do? Quite well for the first time in this tournament, the Olympics of Erasmus. Even though we did not have a volleyball team, our futsal and basketball teams did a good job, especially the futsal team which almost, almost qualified for the play-offs. It was a bit of a surprise to see how good all the teams were, playing their best game and at the same time having a good time. So congratulations to the winning teams – ESN Denmark in futsal, ESN Romania in volleyball and ESN Romania in basketball.

Big thanks to our team! You were incredible! Cheers and see you next year!
